v Yearly - Weekly Lessons

·      30-minute

·      One-hour

·      Studio Group Lessons  (once a month, when applied)

v Summer Session: schedule must be arranged between parts

v Christmas and Other Holidays:  when possible and necessary there will be make up lessons for some holidays

v Calendar might change due to illness, traveling for performances, workshops, and presentations at conferences

 

 PERFORMANCE CALENDAR

Required attandance

 

v Yearly schedule for public performances organized the Laramie Music Teachers Association: Collaborative recital, Colossal Concert, Fall Recital

v Achievement Day – an event with commentary by a teacher panel

 

General Attendance

 

Progress can only be achieved by weekly attendance to lessons Your presence is your reward

 

v Please, notify in advance if there is a need for changing a weekly scheduled lesson

v In the same way I am required to contact the student in case there is a need to reschedule a lesson

Recommendations for Daily Piano Practicing

 

v Beginners: Years I and II

 

·      20-30 minutes a day (three first months)

·      45 minutes - 1 hour (following months)

 

 

v Advanced Beginner: Year III

           

·      1 - 1 1/2hours

 

v Intermediate: Years IV and V

 

·      1 ½ - 2 hours

 

v Advanced Intermediate: Years VI and VII

 

·      2 – 3 hours

 

v Advanced:  From Year VIII

 

·      As required by the advancement of piano repertoire

Technique

 

Skills are developed according to student’s personal qualities, including

 body type, personality, and musical tendencies

 

§  Posture

§  Knowledge of the body and keyboard/pedaling integration

§  Relaxation versus Tension

§  Slow Versus Fast speed practicing patterns

§  Knowledge of keyboard landscape trough listening, visualizing, and touch (kinesthetic approach)

§  Production of sound

§  Gesture and movement

§  Applied technique to repertoire: scales, arpeggios, block and broken chords, octaves, thirds, large spans, leaps, etc

 

Considerations about the Studio and Policies

 

v Students are advised by the piano teacher about their practicing schedule

v Parents are a significant support during the student’s piano studies. Therefore, their engaging and positive participation is welcome

v Parents of beginner piano students should follow ALL lessons in class sessions and during home practicing to discuss progress of students
